First Lake Trip and Sitting Like a Big Boy!

We have had a busy weekend…
On Saturday our family took the boat out and Austin enjoyed his first trip to the lake. Uncle Clint did really good thinking ahead and getting Austin a life jacket for Christmas. “I love it Uncle Clint, thank you!” The end result as you will see is one very tired little man. Our family will enjoy it next weekend as we head to Lake Athens for our Reid family reunion.
Then on Sunday while we were playing at home Austin discovered that he could sit up on his own. He has now done it twice. The 2nd time Mommy got some pictures for everyone to enjoy and Austin decided to grab a toy to play with while he was sitting up.

I love to laugh!

This is what happens when I am really tired and not wanting to go to bed because Daddy is home.

Austin and his toys

Austin is loving playing with things so much these days. There are times he will have a toy between his toes and also one in his hands. Very talented kiddo. He loves things that crinkle and make noise or sing songs. We are very lucky to have friends who have passed on some of their gently used toys to Austin. That makes daddy happy because they don't cost any $$. He loves them so much that he has already lost his Taggie mirror rattle. Mommy has been busy trying to look for it. He is into all of the tags on other things so when I find this I know he will be happy. By the way mommies, these are great toys for babies and kids. Everyone I have talked to said their children love them.

He is still working really hard on trying to crawl. He will get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth but that is it so far. Mommy is still trying to get a picture of trying to crawl. We will have to work on that when Austin wakes up from his nap.
As for eating he loves sweet potatoes, bananas, and apples. Mommy is still making his food which he seems to love watching me in the kitchen. The good news is that you can actually take a bite of the food and tell him how yummy it is, unlike baby food from the store.

Yes, finally some pictures

Me at about 5 months

I had a blast swimming, for the first time, at the Haxel's house. I was not scared and didn't cry at all. I guess my Mommy and Daddy have a little fish on their hands. Thanks to Uncle Clint I am set for the summer.

Update & 6 Month Dr. Checkup

Now that we have the computer up and running again we will soon be able to post pictures again. For now you will have to go to Kelly, James, and Emma Lu to see some pictures of Austin from Monday. Kelly and Emmy were in town for the weekend and they stopped by to hang out. For those of you who are counting that is Austin and Emmy's 3rd date. Austin fell asleep after he ate and Emmy was ready to play. We did get some cute pictures of them together.
As for the doctor, all is still going great. Austin got an "A" for all his development skills. He can roll over both ways, scoot around, sit with some support, bring his feet to his mouth, and a few other things the doctor was really happy to hear about. Austin is very proud of himself when he rolls all over the living room or when he scoots backwards around the house. He has even been up on his hands and knees rocking back and forth a couple times. It won't be long before he is chasing after the puppies. Daddy and Mommy better get those safety gates soon. I guess that is on our next trip to Babies R Us.
Austin weighed in this morning at 20 pounds 5 ounces and measures 28 inches long. He is in the 90th percentile on his weight and 80th percentile on his height. Our next appointment is on a Friday so Daddy can go with us and his heart can break when Austin gets upset over them messing with him and his shots. The good news is our appointments are now 3 months apart.
Austin will also be lucky enough to have his Mommy home with him. Daddy and Mommy made a decision that Mommy will not be returning to work in Jan. So we will be spending lots of time at home playing together. We are so blessed.
We are still enjoying each and every day with Austin. Daddy can't wait for him to wake up in the morning so he can see Austin smile before he goes to sleep. Austin is truly a gift from above.
I will post pictures as soon as I can.
